The Ascension of Jesus is not just about the change of address of Jesus. イエス様の昇天は、イエス様の住所の変化についてだけではありません。It is about what Jesus is doing while seated at the right hand of God the Father. 父なる神様の右に坐する時に何をなさる事についてです。
First. 先ず、At the right hand of God, as the Great High Priest of the Church, Jesus prays for us.神様の右手、また教会の偉大なる祭司として、イエス様は私達の為に祈って下さいます。It is the custom of the church to pray to God the Father, “in the name of Jesus.” 教会の祈りの習慣とは、父なる神様に祈る事です。 ｢イエス様の名前によって｣祈ります。It is like Jesus is sitting next to God, on his right hand, and then he has the ear of God. イエス様は神様のそばの近くに座って、神様の右に座って、神様の耳に話す事のようです。He can tell God our prayers.神様に私達の祈りを言われます。And so we can be sure that God hears our prayers.それで、神様が私達の祈りを聞く事はたしかです。 THEREFORE, do not be timid, rather pray with boldness. ですから：恐れないで、大胆に祈りましょう。We can pray for anything we want to. 何でもだれでも祈る事が出来ます。We might pray for the wrong thing or something harmful or even something sinful, but Jesus hears our prayers and understands our hearts and minds and knows how to give us what is best. もしかしたら、私達は間違ったものの為に祈ったり、危ないものの為に祈ったり、罪深いものの為に祈ったりする事があるかも知れませんが、イエス様は私達の祈りを聞いて、私達の心と思いを理解して、どのように私達の為に一番良いものを与えるかが分かります。We pray for the Holy Spirit. 私達は聖霊の為に祈ります。We pray for those whom we love.愛する人の為に祈ります。
Second.
二つ目。 Being at the right hand, in the administrative position of power and authority, Jesus has the power to answer our prayers.神様の右にいるので、権力の場にいるので、イエス様には私達の祈りに答える力と権威があります。 THEREFORE, do not doubt the power of Jesus. ですから：イエス様の力を疑わないで下さい。 He is almighty God. イエス様は全能の神様です。Do not get discouraged and think that Jesus cannot answer your prayers. がっかりしている時、イエス様があなたの祈りに答える事が出来ないと思わないで下さい。 We trust his love and mercy and wisdom to answer our prayers in the best way for us. 私達の為に一番良い方法で助けて下さる事を、私達は彼の愛と憐みと知恵を信頼します。
Third.
三つ目。 He sends to us the Holy Spirit.イエス様は私達に聖霊を送ります。 This is the promise he made to all his followers right before his ascension, so it is of the highest priority. 昇天する直前に、その約束を言われましたので、急いでその約束を守りました。 And the Ascended Lord kept that promise: on Pentecost he sent the Holy Spirit to the believers. ペンテコステの日、昇天された主は信者達に約束した聖霊を送りました。 And he still sends the Holy Spirit to us today. そして、今も今日も私達に聖霊を送ります。 In the power of the Holy Spirit, the first disciples became the first witnesses of Jesus, first to Jerusalem, then to Samaria, and finally to the ends of the world. 聖霊の力によって、最初の弟子達はイエス様の最初の証人になりました。先ずエルサレムに、次にサマリアに、そして最後に、この世の淵までした。 And so the Gospel has come to us. それで、福音が私達の所にも来ました。 The Holy Spirit has opened our hearts to believe the Good News. 聖霊は私達の心を開いて下さって、私達は良い知らせを信じました。 And now that we have the Holy Spirit, we too are witnesses to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. それで聖霊を受けたので、私達もイエス・キリストの福音の証人になります。 THEREFORE, do not think that you cannot do evangelism. ですから：あなたは伝道出来ないと思わないで下さい。Do not think that you have no power. 自分には力が無いと思わないで下さい。It is the Holy Spirit that creates faith. 信仰を造るのは聖霊です。When the disciples learned that fact, it gave them the courage and vision to spread the Gospel message. 弟子達がその事実を習った時、福音のメッセージを述べ伝える為に、ヴィションと勇気を受けました。When we see the work of the Holy Spirit creating faith, the work of the church becomes more interesting, full of “Spirit!” 私達は、信仰を造る聖霊の働きを見る時、教会の働きが面白くなります。｢スピリト｣があります。
Fourth.
四つ目。The Ascended Lord is with us. 昇天された主は私達と共にいます。 His last words in Mt. 28 are these: “Lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”マタイ２８章でのイエス様の最後の言葉です：｢わたしは世の終わりまで、いつもあなたがたと共にいる。｣ Jesus is not confined to the small area of Palestine. イエス様は狭いパレスチナの地方に限られていません。He is not restricted by space and time and physics. 又、時間的に、場所的に、物理的にも制限されていません。 Jesus is equally present with all of us. イエス様は、私達一人一人に同じように共にいます。 Being in heaven means that he is right here with us on earth. 天国にいますので、地上の私達と共にいるのです。 THEREFORE, do not be afraid of things that happen in your life. ですから：人生に起こる事について恐れてはいけません。 Do not despair, do not be depressed, and do not be discouraged. 失望しないで、ゆううつにならないで、がっかりしないで。 The Shepherd of the sheep is with us right now and always.羊の群れの羊飼いは今も後もいつまでも私達と共にいます。 Jesus came to us when we needed him most, when we were lost in our sin. 一番大変な時、一番必要のあった時、自分の罪に迷ってしまった時に、イエス様は私達の所に来られました。 He was with us when he died on the cross. 十字架上で死んだ下さった時に、私達と共にいました。 He was with us when he arose from the grave. お墓から復活した時にも私達と共にいました。 There is great comfort and courage knowing we are never alone. 私達が決して独りでない事には大きな慰めと勇気があります。
Fifth.
５つ目。 The Ascended Lord is coming again. 昇天された主は再び来られます。 “And while they [the disciples] were gazing into heaven as he [Jesus] went, behold, two men stood by them in white robes, and said, ‘Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into heaven? This Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will come in the same way as you saw him go into heaven.’” 使徒1:10-11、｢10 イエスが離れ去って行かれるとき、彼らは天を見つめていた。すると、白い服を着た二人の人がそばに立って、11 言った。「ガリラヤの人たち、なぜ天を見上げて立っているのか。あなたがたから離れて天に上げられたイエスは、天に行かれるのをあなたがたが見たのと同じ有様で、またおいでになる。」｣When will Jesus return?いつイエス様が戻るでしょうか。 No one knows. 誰も知りません。 Jesus Himself said, Mt. 24:36, "But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven nor the Son, but My Father only.” イエス様御自身は言われました、マタイ24:36、｢その日、その時は、だれも知らない。天使たちも子も知らない。ただ、父だけがご存じである。｣ THEREFORE, do not panic when some evangelist predicts the end of the world. ですから：伝道師が世の終わりを予言する時、パニックしてはいけません。 But, at the same time, prepare for the Second Coming of Christ. しかし、イエス様の再臨の為に準備しましょう。He might come back today. 今日戻るかも知れません。 Are you ready? あなたは準備していますか。 Do you believe that Jesus is your personal Savior? イエス様が自分自身の救い主であると信じますか。 If you believe so, then you are ready. そう信じましたら、あなたには準備が出来ています。 But do you worry that your sins are not forgiven? しかし、自分の罪が赦されていないと心配しますか。Do you worry that you are not worthy of heaven? 自分が天国に行く価値がないと思いますか。 Then remember that Salvation is not based on your works or worthiness, but rather on the work of Jesus on the cross who forgives us our sins and who thought we were worthwhile dying for! その時、この事をおぼえて下さい、救いがあなたの働きの業や自分の価値に基づいていません。むしろ、私達の為に死ぬほど価値があると思われて、私達の罪をゆるす十字架上のイエス様の業によってです。 When we pray in the Lord’s Prayer, “Thy Kingdom come,” we are praying that Jesus would come back soon. 主の祈りに｢御国が来ますように｣と祈りますと、イエス様がすぐ帰るように祈ります。 And we are praying that his Kingdom of faith and grace and salvation would come to us right now. 同時に、信仰と恵みと救いの御国が今なお、私達に来るように祈ります。 Not only to us, but to all who hear the word of the Gospel. 私達だけの為にではなくて、福音の御言葉を聞くすべての人の為です。
And Sixth.
そして、六つ目。 The Ascended Lord blesses us.昇天される主は私達を祝福して下さいます。 Listen to Luke 24:50-51. “And He led them out as far as Bethany, and He lifted up His hands and blessed them. 51 Now it came to pass, while He blessed them, that He was parted from them and carried up into heaven.” ルカ24:50-51を聞いて下さい、｢50 イエスは、そこから彼らをベタニアの辺りまで連れて行き、手を上げて祝福された。51 そして、祝福しながら彼らを離れ、天に上げられた。｣When Jesus lifted up his hands to bless them, had the wounds of the nails healed yet? 祝福する為に、御手を上げた時、その十字架の釘のキズがもう治ったでしょうか。Could the disciples see the scars of the nails? 弟子達はそのグギの後を見る事が出来たでしょうか。THEREFORE, do not think lightly of the work of Christ. ですから：キリストの働きを軽く考えないで下さい。Do not take his blessing casually. その祝福をカジュエルのように受けないで下さい。 By his wounds we have been healed. 彼のキズによって私達が癒されました。 By his death we have been given new life. 彼の死によって私達は新しい命を受けます。 He died for us. 彼は私達の為に死んで下さいました。 He lives for us. 私達の為に生きています。And so we who have died in Baptism now live with Jesus and live for Jesus. それで、洗礼によって死んだ私達が今イエス様と共に生きて、イエス様の為に生きています。
