Pastor: Rev. Manabu Wakabayashi, M.Div.
He had served as a acting pastor of Shrione Lutheran Church from April
2004.
He became the ordained pastor on March 30, 2008.
He has received a Bachelor of Science (Mechanical Engineering)
in 1971 from Tohoku University, Sendai, Japan, and
a Master of Divinity in 2002 from Concordia Theological Seminary
(LC-MS), Fort Wayne, IN, USA.
History of Shirone Lutheran Christ Church
Shirone Lutheran Christ Church was first established in 1950 by Rev. Zwintscher,
who was one of the first missionaries to Japan from the Lutheran Church-Missouri
Synod (LC-MS), USA. The first church building was located in downtown
Shirone. In 1983 the church was moved to a current location, and the church
building was built with a financial support of the Indiana district of
LC-MS.
Shirone is located in the Niigata Prefecture, the leading rice production
area in Japan.
Shirone is also known for its fruit farms and the traditional Big Kite
Fight Festival that has been held annually since 1737. The current population
of Shirone is around 40,000, but there are only two Christian churches
in the area; we believe that our church has a great potential in serving
others in Shirone.
Rev. Manabu Wakabayashi sends out a short message every week through an internet mail magazine. To subscribe, please click http://www.mag2.com/m/0000280796.html
